Visitor center Med dvemi vodami is imbued with love for the natural heritage of Međimurje and the need to preserve it. It is located in a small Međimurje settlement Križovec, at the address Trg Međimurske prirode 1.
The northernmost municipality of the Republic of Croatia, Sveti Martin na Muri, is a special tourist destination of Međimurje County. In this part of Međimurje, special attention is paid to sports-recreational and wellness facilities, which perfectly fit the eco-tourist educational hiking and biking trail Svetomartinska Mura.
The old house (hiža) in Frkanovac was built more than a hundred years ago in the spirit of the tradition of the Međimurje region. It is a well-preserved example of rural architecture in Međimurje. With the reconstruction and conversion of the “hiža”, the associated farm building and the land, an educational and research center dedicated to butterflies and significant habitats of plant and animal species of upper Međimurje was created.
The trail takes us back to the past when cattle grazed along the Mura and coal was mined. It introduces us to the current and past ecosystem services and prepares us for the future, which will only exist if the coexistence of nature and people is strengthened. The appearance of Mura today reflects the traditions and values of past generations.
