Volunteering is considered the voluntary investment of personal time, effort, knowledge, and skills to perform services or activities for the benefit of another person or for the common good. These activities are carried out in accordance with the Volunteering Act (NN 58/07, 22/13), without the expectation of monetary compensation or any other material benefit unless otherwise specified by law.
Međimurska priroda – Public Institution for Nature Protection has been organizing volunteer actions since the beginning of its operations.
Volunteer actions such as “Frogs on the Road”, “Let’s Ensure a Home for the Sand Martin”, “Night Hunt for the Stag Beetle” and “Volunteer for Nature” are just some of the activities organized by Međimurska priroda. These volunteer actions are a great way to get involved in the work of Međimurska priroda and discover the wonders of the nature of Međimurje.

Citizen science, or public participation in collecting data needed by scientists, is one of the most effective ways to quickly gather essential information about the state of nature. That is why reports from “citizen scientists” are crucial for the rapid and effective identification of new or rare species and changes in nature.
A good example of citizen science is the “Have You Seen Them?” campaigns organized by the relevant ministry.
You can also report your observations through the iNaturalist app. It’s easy! Download the app, register, and submit your find. Be sure to attach high-quality photographs so that scientists and researchers can identify or confirm your discovery.
